The Electric Disco.

We’ve been longtime fans of Greek production duo Bonnie and Klein, going back to their early outings on Uber and Music for Dreams, with their smooth productions and blissful Aegean take on the classic Balearic sound
Their new EP on Hell Yeah Recordings keeps the flag flying high, delivering four new killer tracks of Balearica, perfectly tuned for Mediterranean beaches, Ibizan sunsets and disceerning dancefloors.
The title track, Glam Pulse, sets the tone for the EP with its gentle shuffling percussion, FM keys and guitars, alongside a piano line reminiscent of a classic Mike Francis production that rolls through the track before giving way to an essential sax solo, perfect for those end-of-night, top-off vibes.
The Balearic feels continue on Haleakala, with panpipes and xylophones drifting alongside new-age pads, beneath gently soloing Spanish guitars that weave in and out throughout the track
Horizon Avenue gently lifts the tempo with a boogie style bassline injecting a dose of funk beneath the guitar riffs and vibes. Still chilled, but dancefloor-ready, and in the right setting, the vocal samples and sax could easily take the roof off a party.
The EP closes with Sunion, possibly my favourite of the four tracks, a piano-led, Café del Mar-esque number with gentle keys and vibes flowing throughout, before melancholy trumpet and guitar solos bring it to a close, the perfect soundtrack to a Balearic sunset.
Glam Pulse is definitely one of the records of the summer and as with all the Bonnie and Klein releases, this is an essential purchase.
