The Electric Disco.

For the past 15 years or so, Magic Wand, the sister label to the mighty Is It Balearic? , has been steadily adding to an essential catalogue of releases, with some of the scene’s big hitters turning out killer edits of everything from obscure AOR to cosmic funk, balearic disco and beyond.
Previous contributors include label honchos themselves Coyote, alongside names such as Mori-Ra, Skyrager, Rune Lindbaek and Mushrooms Project amongst others, with some of the early edits now becoming highly sought after and expensive.
The latest release, 'Crossfire', comes as a single-sided white label 7", with no clues as to the mystery artist at the controls. It's a seriously cool, midtempo reworking of Fishermans Tale by Christopher Cross, built around a chuggy bassline and gently shuffling groove that locks you in from opening bars.
The vocal is carefully reconstructed, transforming the original soft rock, ballad, into a sundown headnodder / dancefloor ready anthem in the making, and the Christopher Cross lyrics that talk of escaping personal troubles and finding calm in the stillness of the sea really couldn't be any more balearic if they tried.
"Took my troubles, down to the sea... Put my ear to a seashell, inquisitively."
You can be certain this is going to get A LOT of airplay this summer and is likely to fly off the shelves as soon as it's released, so don't miss out and grab a pre-order before they're all gone!!
