Oleta Goes To The Islands by Dos Hombres

This awesome new edit landed in our inbox last week and has been on rotation ever since, soundtracking the drive down to last week’s Spirit of Eden festival and lodging itself in our heads as an intoxicating earworm.

Oleta Goes To The Islands is the second track from Dos Hombres, the new project from Cal Gibson of Secret Soul Society and Discoholic Ken. Their debut outing was well received in the Balearic / crossover communities so it feels perfectly timed that a year on and with summer in full swing the boys return with their latest dance floor anthem.

For Oleta Goes To The Islands, the Hombres flip a tiny snippet of Oleta Adams’ 1990 R&B classic Rhythm of Life and turn it into a chugging Balearic groover, built around a looping piano line, reverse drums, disco FX, and risers galore. It’s a proper head-nodder of a track that slowly locks you in, and before you know it, you’re deep in the midst of a peak-night banger!

I’ve been a huge fan of Cal’s work with Secret Soul Society for a while now, and Ken’s Discoholics Anonymous reworks are always wicked so this new pairing is definitely one to keep your eyes and ears on.

Oleta Goes To The Islands is a digital-only release, available now over on the Discoholics Anonymous Bandcamp
