London based DJ Ariane V is fast emerging as one of the scene’s rising stars. A former Phonica Records staff member and co founder of Balearic London, her sets pull from across the spectrum, from floaty and melodic Balearica through to chuggy, dark acid house, always with a firm eye on the dancefloor.
That breadth has led to appearances at Love International, We Out Here and Risen Festival, alongside club sets at KOKO and Corsica Studios. She has shared lineups with Kerri Chandler and Danilo Plessow, while maintaining a steady radio presence on Worldwide FM, Rinse FM and Balamii Radio.

Her latest project arrives via Nervous Records, where she has been invited to curate an 18 track compilation that serves as both a snapshot of her current sound and a reflection of the community around her.
The album opens with the Italo house-esque sound of 'Don’t Forget' by Pacific Coliseum. A gentle analogue break rolling under dreamy pads and intricate melodies that would sit equally as well on a dancefloor as they would as part of a sunset selection, and for me, this track alone already makes the album worth the price of entry.
The laid back vibes don't last long as 'My Manifold' by Donald Dust picks up the tempo with a jacking trip into late 80s house blending slamming 909s, Chicago synth stabs and spoken word vocals with bleeps and a bassline that wouldn't sound out of place on a classic Warp release.
The Chicago influences continue with 303 laced tracks from JoeLy, D.D Curry and the superb Glass by North 90, which features the vocal from Donnie’s 1986 classic 'The It' alongside orchestral Fairlight stabs and a killer bassline, twisting them into the kind of obscure 80s sounding B-side you’d expect to hear in a Mark Seven mix.
Other highlights for me include the disco mix of People in the Middle by El Conchitas, an infectious party starter that’s guaranteed to get any dancefloor moving, and Esoterica Armada by Ghosten, a clever hybrid of styles layering delicate jazzy FM keys over a heavy analog bass and a driving kick.
Ariane’s selections stay uptempo throughout, travelling through various guises of house, sometimes heavy, sometimes delicate, but always keeping a firm hold on the dancefloor.
This is a great compilation, showcasing the diversity of Ariane’s taste alongside her Balearic roots and offering listeners a taster of the more uptempo sounds you might hear at one of the Balearic London parties.
Safe Travels is available as a digital download on Bandcamp now alongside a limited vinyl sampler which you might still be able to grab before stocks run out.
